The speaker, Dr.Becattini was born and raised in Florence (Italy), where he got his BSc and MSc in Medical Biology. Internship in viral immunology at the Karolinska Institute, Stockholm (Sweden), then Ph.D. in Immunology and Microbiology at the ETH Zurich and Institute for research in Biomedicine, Bellinzona (Switzerland). Postdoctoral fellowship at Memorial Sloan Kettering, New York (US) working on immunity and gut microbiota. 

Currently SNSF Eccellenza assistant professor at the Department of Pathology and Immunology, University of Geneva (Switzerland), investigating the fascinating interactions between gut microbes and immune cells.
