Ph.D. - Fitzwilliam College, Cambridge University / Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute
Career background:
Dr. Lees commenced her Clinical Lecturer post at the University of Oxford in March 2020, having completed her Ph.D. as part of the Wellcome Clinical Ph.D. Programme, based at the University of Cambridge / Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute. There, she undertook a project modeling the interactions of Salmonellae with the human intestinal epithelium, using stem cell-derived intestinal organoids; work which she hopes to expand on during her lectureship. Whilst in the post, She has been continuing her clinical training in paediatrics.
Dr. Lees's long-term career aim is to become an Academic Paediatrician with an interest in international child health and infectious disease, something which she is one step closer to, having been approved for sub-specialty training in Paediatric Immunology and Infectious Diseases during her lectureship, which she will commence in September 2020.
